(More customer reviews)I was wary when I went looking for a case for my Kindle 3, and I must say that I'm completely satisfied in choosing this one. The Kindle fits snuggly into the pocket of this case enough so that there is no danger of it falling out if you were to violently shake it upside (which I have tested a number of times), but not so much that it is impossible to get out. Actually, with the placement of the bottom straps, I find it quite easy to get my Kindle out simply by pushing upward with my thumb.
The placement of all the straps is well designed; unlike some cases I have bought for phones and other devices with a keyboard, this case leaves plenty of space bordering the keypad and page-turning buttons so as not to get in the way of typing or flipping pages.I hardly notice the case at all, other than the size of its thickness (about 3 Kindles thick when the device is placed inside; about the same for any case).
I am not quite sure what is in the cover or the backside of this case, but it is definitely hard enough to provide sufficient protection for everyday use with the Kindle. I have never felt a need to worry placing it inside my backpack along with my textbooks for school, and I imagine I would feel the same way in a purse with keys and other more pointed objects.
The material that surrounds the hard, protective part is soft and is comfortable to hold. The pleather of the inside of the case is equally comfortable, although much harder than the pillowy cover. The part that is covers the screen when the case is smooth and offers no danger of scratching the screen or wearing it out from rubbing.
The stand in the back buttons into place so it doesn't flop around when not kicked back. Because of the string (I'm not sure of the material, but it's survived quite a few pulling tests so far) I find that I can even use the stand on my knee when I'm sitting cross-legged in a chair, provided I don't move around too much. I find the stand's design to be favorable because of this, although one drawback would be that stand only works when the string is drawn to its full extent on a table. I don't find this to be a problem, as the angle the stand puts the Kindle at is pretty good for me.
Some other small things of note would be that the magnet that keeps the case shut does its job without making it difficult to open the case. Also, the holes for the speakers have not blocked any sound coming from my Kindle the few times that I've laughed testing out the so-so text-to-speech function.
Like I've said a number of times, I'm not sure what material is used to make this case, but there is no question to its durability. The price plus shipping might seem a little steep when compared with some of the other third party company cases, but this is a case that will last. I'll be pretty shocked if it doesn't have a longer lifespan than the Kindle I ordered alongside it. As a side note, I found this video review to be helpful, as I'm usually slow to trust the photos on the item profile (in this case, I believe the photos are fully accurate): [...]
