Ordered 2 colors to choose which one I liked. Based on the excellent reviews, I was excited.
First, the item had a very strong smell when it arrived. Not a pleasant leather smell but almost chemical. The smell got on my fingers and even triggered a migraine! Like others noted, I don't believe it's real leather. I've never encountered leather that smelled like that. If it is, I don't know what they've done to it for it to smell so bad.
The item came in a ziploc bag and appeared already used. The stitching was bad and it already had some threads sticking out.
The item just looks cheap overall. How can people comment on "workmanship"? It's so poorly made.
The black bit in the front (which is where you prop up the front to make it like an easel) is plastic and ugly and had dents in it already.
I like the easel aspect, but there are other covers with the easel, some for the same price.
Finally, it doesn't even fit properly! Sure the kindle is roughly in the right place, but the surrounding leather keeps protruding/bowing up all around the screen. The frame is not symmetric around the screen. The red one was worse than this but they were both uneven and different from each other.
Either the vast majority of people are not at all discerning about quality of leather goods, or there are some fake reviews (especially since many have only this one review).
I have since received a Tuff Luv cover and it is more expensive but WAY better. If you can at all afford it, don't buy this. In fact, try some other cheap cover than this one!
Frankly, I think there are fake reviews of Duragadget here. People are clicking "not useful" on negative reviews? How is it not helpful? I wish there had been more negative ones. You may disagree with my rating, but why do you think I am actually un-helpful? I am providing information about my purchase, the item's quality, and fit. I for one wish I had read reviews like this and not bought this item. I purchased it and had to wait for it, then waste time returning it, get another cover and wait for it... Now I'm spending time posting my experience to help others. And I am not a fake reviewer, been on amazon for years. So I think there's something fishy going on.
By the way I have not received my refund.
