(More customer reviews)Background: my Kindle 3 started re-booting for no apparent reason, even when the wireless feature was turned off. It was not updating, just re-booting. When it finally happened three times in a fifteen-minute span I started some serious research and found that others having the same problem concluded that it was the cover! Namely, the little metal hinges on the cover that slip inside the Kindle and keep it secure. Seems that with wear the metal hinges begin reacting with something inside the Kindle 3, causing the reboot.
I removed the cover. Problem solved. Not a reboot since.
I needed a new cover (I find just holding the naked Kindle odd, since I tend to keep hitting buttons).
I then purchased this TrendyDigital MaxGuard cover (no reviews available when I purchased, but I liked the way it looked). No hinges! You slip the Kindle inside the right-side of the cover, where it fits very snugly. The cover is kept closed by magnets (which worried me slightly, but to date no problem with the magnets interfering with the Kindle in any way).
The TrendyDigital case was designed well. You still have access to all of the buttons and such (including at bottom for turning off and charging). It is slightly difficult to use the five-way button in the lower right-hand corner (especially the right side of said botton, when it meets the raised cover), hence the four-star rating instead of five (if possible, I would give it 4.5 stars). No problem with folding back the left-side of the cover to that you are holding all in one hand.
My wife was quite taken with the case, noting that it feels very good and soft to the hands. I am very pleased with it (i.e. the cover; although I am pleased with my wife too).
Update 12/26/10: still no rebooting issues since switching to this cover! As the Kindle 'settles into' the cover I am finding it a bit easier to use the five-way control button.
