It's lightweight, yet feels cushioned enough to protect the iPad if it drops (dear Lord please don't let that ever happen). It holds it firmly inside thanks to the stretchy skin and friction, and there's no possibility of the iPad sliding out accidentally. Not having a zipper or velcro makes it nice and quick to retrieve the iPad from the case. If you want a functional case for your iPad for your peace of mind, this is a nice choice.
