(More customer reviews)This is much larger than how it appears in the picture! I'm not even sure it is the same item because one picture shows the iPhone sticking above the bamboo. I notice there are eReader stands and maybe I was shipped one of those by mistake? Also the "4G" part of the title is inaccurate - there is no iPhone 4G at this time (Oct 2010).
Dimensions: The bamboo wood slats are approximately 3.5" wide x 7.25" long and the slats are about 3/8" thick. Once joined the 'shelf' is just over 5" long - so your iPhone 'sits' in a much larger space. I have the Otterbox Defender case (highly recommended!)and my iPhone still has about 1/2" of bamboo on each side (centered) and almost 1/2" of bamboo sticking out on top. This takes up a good deal of space on my desk - the footprint is 3.5" x 6.5" and just under 6" tall (assembled). 'CASECROWN' has been etched (laser?) into both slats and is clearly visible when your iPhone isn't sitting on the stand.
For comparison the iPhone 4 without case is 4.5" long x 2.31" wide.
The quality of the bamboo is excellent - the slats have been sanded smooth and the edges are rounded. There are two beveled slots carved out of the shelf to hold your iPhone in place - especially helpful if you do not have a case/bumber on your phone. Assembly is easy, although there are no instructions included. Charging is also easy - just sit your iPhone on the side (or upside down) and plug it in.
I rated this a 'three' because of the size - the assembled stand is quite large and take up more deskspace than it should if it was made for the iPhone. It would have rated a 'five' if I had been shipped the correct one as pictured.
I intend to contact Senyx and Amazon to see what can be done (the stand is "sold by Senyx and fulfilled by Amazon" as stated in the description. I will update this review if anything changes.
Update - Amazon has offered to refund my money if I return the stand. Despite its size, I think I'll keep it and maybe use it for my Kindle and iPhone. Be aware of this issue when ordering, however - especially if your deskspace is at a premium.
