The price ($37.99 abouts) is about the same as most other nook covers out there but the others didn't look nearly as good (especially for guys) and look bare bone functional. I've had this cover for a few days hard reading and have been impressed. That said, let's get down to the nitty gritty.QUALITY/
Stitching: Very well done. I looked the whole thing over for loose threads and sloppy thread termination (you know where they stop stitching and cut off the excesss) and haven't found any of that. Someone did a good job.
Leather: It's a Poly Leather that from inspection seems to be well made. Doesn't feel or look like the nasty cheap stuff. Time will tell.
Hemp: My first hemp product. Like a mix between Burlap, Canvas, and Tweed lol. Course abration like cement wouldn't be good for it but I wouldn't bat an eye about sliding this across wood table tops or floors on a daily basis. With that in mind, I think it's sturdy.
Metal snap: Seems both peices are well secured on both sides.
FIT:
Device install/removal: Easy, yet snug. Excellent fit. Someone did their maf homwerx.
Security(If I shake it, will it fall out): You could play catch with it and it wouldn't budge. I've found myself mindlessly twirling it around (like I do to my other books) when I'm not paying attention. On top of the snug fit, it's got a half inch leather tab that velcros the top in. Good feature, executed well.
COMFORTABLE:
Feel in hand: Surprisingly comfortable. I didn't like how the nook, by itself is so thin, but with the cover on it I find it to be just right. One interesting aspect I wasn't expecting was the front and back cover are cushioned. There's a board on the inside to give the cover rigidity like a baseball cap but then it's got padding on top of that. Besides the added protection it strangely makes it pleasurable and comfortable to touch.
Feel of Hemp: A soft fibrous texture like a tightly woven tweed (just got a girls opinion). The padded front and back make it even softer. Straight up though, it's just comfortable. I'd rather hold this on a hot day then something leather.
Feel of Folded Cover Read: The coolest thing about this cover so far, besides the design on the cover, is that you can fold the front cover back and use the snap closure to keep it there.
PROTECTION:
Corner Drops: This is the only bummer I've found so far. If you were to drop this on it's upper right or lower right corner, with your nook inside, your nooks gonna feel the pain. The cover doesn't extend out much at all past the nooks corners. The top left and bottom left corners of the nook will feel a little pain but are afforded decent protection from the binding of the cover. After thinking the problem through though I decided it'd it's not bad at all for something that fits my nook rather then engulf and bulk-ify it.
Flat Drops: Well and good. I don't see my nook getting hurt from a front or back hit.
EASE OF USE:
Headjack/USB/Speakers access: Good. All accessible With the cover closed.
Attachable Light: I'm using one and it fit just fine.
OVER ALL:
All in all, this cover is rock'n awesome. I feel that for the money spent on it I get the protection/coolness/usability that I wanted with a flare of unique. I'm even more happy that I didn't spend the same amount for the ones I saw displayed at Barnes & Nobles that were hardly bare bone functional at the same or higher price. On a side note, I feel like by purchasing this I helped fund an eco-terrorist group.
